PhD in Library and Information Science Admission

PhD in Library and Information Science is a 2-3 years full-time doctorate course which is the combination study of Library Science and Information Science.

The course It is an interdisciplinary study that offers advanced knowledge on library management practices over information technology, management tools, education etc.

To be eligible for undertaking the study of PhD Library and Information Science course, the aspiring candidates must have a Master's degree or M.Phil in the relevant discipline with a minimum 55% (50% for SC/ST candidates) aggregate score from a recognized university. 

Admission to this course study is done on the basis of the entrance exam followed by the personal interview round conducted by the respective colleges or universities. Candidates having UGC NET, CSIR NET, SLET are exempted from the entrance exam but they have to appear for the interview round where their skills are being checked.

Eligibility Criteria of PhD Library and Information Science    

An M.Phil. Degree and a Post-Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline with minimum fifty-five percent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognized institution of higher training

or

Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline with minimum fifty-five percent marks (fifty percent marks for SC/ST/PH candidates) or an equivalent grade from a university or a recognized institution of higher learning and five years of teaching/industry/administration/professional experience at senior level.

Candidate should clear the common entrance exam conducted by the University for the Course.
