About B.Tech in Production Engineering

B.Tech in Production Engineering is a 4-year full-time graduation program that deals with manufacturing, engineering, management and improvement of complex procedures that are used in production processes. It teaches about the engineering procedures that are involved in production and manufacturing processes. The objective of this course is to improve efficiency, increase manufacturing effectiveness and quality control, reduce costs that are involved in production and also increase marketability at the same time.

Admissions to this course are done on the basis of entrance exams such as IIT JEE Mains and Advanced. There are also certain colleges that conduct their own entrance exams such as BITSAT for Birla Institute of Technology. Also, some colleges accept admissions on the basis of IIT scores. After the exam results are out, the shortlisted candidates are then called for counseling where admission can be confirmed.

What does a B.Tech in Production Engineering do?

Production engineers are responsible for supervising the manufacturing processes and ensuring that quality work is produced in an efficient and safe manner.

They have to cooperate with other engineers to improve the designs of equipment in such a way that they offer better services and also cut costs.

Production engineers must identify the problems in a production line and suggest strategies that would help improve those issues.

Since production engineers are required the most in factories and industries, they have to also take care of the environmental aspect and devise strategies that would reduce carbon emissions.

They also have to be careful about enforcing the safety protocols and procedures.

They must also guide the new workers and instruct them well about the workings of the organizations.

They must schedule time-to-time meetings with various departments to keep up with their work and write regular reports about the progress of the systems and production lines.

Why Study B.Tech in Production Engineering

Production Engineering offers very lucrative job opportunities in India and abroad. Some benefits of studying this discipline have been mentioned below:

Since this discipline is about the working and management of industries and factories, it offers many job opportunities within the industrial sector and provides skills that are required to be a part of the industrial sector.

This program provides a creative platform to the engineers to implement their ideas and research for the betterment of the sector.

Experience built in this discipline is also important as the engineers get to experiment and use modern tools and equipment.
