About B.Tech in Mining Engineering Admission

Mining engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the practice, theory, science, technology, and the application of extracting and processing minerals from a naturally occurring environment. There is much job scope available in mining engineering. A job in this field is highly rewarding and the chances for career advancement are great. Jobs in mining can be obtained with the public and private sectors. As the field of mining needs professionals who are skilled in any particular area, mining engineers are in great demand everywhere.

Why choose B.Tech in Mining Engineering?

The requirement for mining engineers is increasing across the globe. Some of the reasons to choose this course are listed below:

It has been in demand in India as it is a developing country and there is a lot to be done in terms of construction, mining and oil-based projects.

B.Tech in Mining Engineering course offers a good salary and growth in the related industry.

If you like to travel, this is the right course for you, as mining engineers are required to travel and explore places, which provides good learning opportunities.

B.Tech Mining Engineering Eligibility Criteria?

To be eligible for this course, a candidate has to pass a higher secondary examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.

The students who have appeared in the 12th examination and await the result are allowed to apply for the course by such institutions.

Students should have a score of above 60% to apply for this course.

Female candidates are barred from taking up this course in almost all the BTech Mining Engineering colleges. However, recently Anna University has allowed admission in this BTech program but under some conditions under the Mines Act 1952. According to this, the women would not be allowed to work on opencast mines between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The restrictions under Coal Mines Regulations, 1957 would also be imposed on women seeking admission in mining engineering.

B.Tech in Mining Engineering Entrance Exams

The entrance exam is the preferred mode to take admission to most of the institutions. Some of the top entrance exams are discussed below.

A Quick Glance at the B.Tech Mining Engineering Entrance Exams

The eligibility criteria of the above-mentioned entrance exams are entirely dependent on the conduction body; hence it varies. But here are a few similarities we have picked up from the popular entrance exams to give a heads up:

The exam pattern includes logical, reasoning, and knowledge-based questions. The mode of the test will be both online and offline.

The papers would be objective, and the questions asked will be from physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

The duration of the test is two-three hours approximately depending on the exam one is writing.

The exam will be offline, OMR sheet-based paper, or online.

The syllabus, mode of examination, and question pattern may change according to a university/conduction body.
