B.Tech Petroleum Engineering Admission Process?

To pursue B.Tech Petroleum Engineering in any of the prestigious colleges, interested candidates have to appear for the entrance tests accordingly. However, a few colleges grant admission based on the student’s 10+2 or equivalent examination merit as well.

JEE is the most common engineering entrance exam held in India. It is a two-tier examination (Main & Advanced). Students can get admission in some engineering institutes through JEE Main exam while IITs only consider the ranking based on JEE Advanced exam.

The online application process begins around December's first week and the last date of online submission of applications is by January's second or third week.

A lot of entrance tests are held in different corners of India for admitting engineering students. The entrance tests are both state-level as well as national-level. The application forms for the same are mostly released in the month of December.

Popular Entrance Exams for B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering

Students can appear for the entrance exams for admission in top colleges and universities. Selection for admission depends on students’ 12th standard aggregates and entrance exam scores. The selected students appear for GD (Group Discussion) and PI (Personal Interview). They are asked questions to test their critical thinking capabilities, and the students are selected based on those assessments.

  • JEE Advanced
  • JEE Main
  • BITSAT
  • VITEEE
  • SRMJEEE
  • MHT CET
  • KCET

How to Prepare for the B.Tech in Petroleum Engineering Entrance Exams?

The B.Tech Petroleum entrance exam syllabus consists of three sections - General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics and subject-specific papers as chosen by students during the submission of application forms. The subjects for the exam include digital logic, computer organization and architecture, programming and data structures, algorithms, theory of computation, compiler design, operating systems, databases, and computer networks.

To crack any entrance exam for admission in a good college to pursue B.Tech Petroleum, the following points should be kept in mind while preparing, because it is absolutely necessary to have a proper strategy.

To manage their personal and academic life well, students should prepare a timetable for the proper allocation of time and energy.

There is no doubt that there is not a lack of resource books, however, not all of them are helpful - so choose the right books.

Solve past years’ question papers because there is no better way to learn and understand the examination pattern than solving question papers of previous years.

Instead of investing time in memorizing the notes, they should spend time on understanding the concept in a meaningful way because that is the knowledge that will stay with them forever, and not just till the exam is over.

While preparing, students should take breaks in between to calm down their minds which will help them to focus more on their course.

While they study, students should make sure to also train their minds for the exam by trying to solve the practice papers within the allocated time.
